DinnerDibs ("the app", "we") is a household meal-planning app operated by [LEGAL NAME/ENTITY]. This policy describes what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and sign-in identity (Google Sign-In or email/password via Firebase Authentication), and an optional profile photo if you add one.
- Household data you create: recipes, weekly plans, shopping lists, pantry notes, dietary preferences (including any allergies you enter), and product choices. This data is shared with the other members of your household inside the app.
- Usage counts: how many times your household uses app features (e.g. plan builds, product matches), kept per month to operate fair usage limits. We do not sell this or use it for advertising.
- Barcodes you scan are looked up against retailer and public food databases; scanned product codes may be cached (without any link to you) to speed up lookups for everyone.
How your data is processed
- AI features: when you use planning, recipe parsing, or nutrition features, the relevant text (your request, recipe text, your dietary preferences, and — for photo import — the image you choose) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the result. It is not used to train models per Anthropic's commercial API terms.
- Storage and hosting: Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Functions, Hosting), in the United States.
- Product and price lookups: Walmart's affiliate API; nutrition lookups use Open Food Facts and the USDA FoodData Central API. Only product names/barcodes are sent — never your identity.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't share your household's food data with anyone except the service providers above, each only to provide the feature you used.
Retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. Settings → Delete my account and data permanently deletes your account; if you are the last member of your household it also permanently deletes all household data. Backups age out within [30] days.
Children
The app is for adults managing household groceries and is not directed at children under 13.
